What Is Supported Independent Living (sil)?

Flintwood prides itself on getting to know our Participants to ensure comfortability and safety, which in turn will enable independence, within their own home. SIL is paid personal support. It includes things like having someone to help with personal care or cooking meals etc. It is one type of help or support with daily tasks to help you live as independently as possible and build your skills.

Flintwood has 24/7 hr highly trained, friendly, and reliable staff who will support individuals with disability to access the community, advocate choice and control whilst supporting their independence, increase overall well-being, nurture personal growth in a safe and supportive environment – their own home; with the main goal being to build their independence.

Supported independent living is best suited to people with disability and higher support needs. This means the individual needs a significant amount of help throughout the day, 7 days a week. This includes overnight support. A person with disability can get supported independent living if they live with other NDIS participants or if they live on their own. Remember, Supported Independent Living is only one of the many support options.
