Jackie Romein

CEO | Flintwood Disability Services

Jackie Romein has been leading the Flintwood team since 1999. During this time Jackie has propelled the organisation through many changes, the most significant being the transformational change as a result of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Her strategic and responsive mindset has enabled the success of not only the organisation, its staff and participants but also the families. Jackie prides herself on the fact that Flintwood is a family-focused, flexible and fair service. She leads and mentors a team of 6 General Managers covering human resources, Finance and Administration and Operations.

Kay McPartland

General Manager of Specialist Services

Kay McPartland has been with Flintwood since 2004 and in the role of GM since 2010. Kay has extensive experience in the operational aspects of disability service with an emphasis on the setup and running of accommodation services. Kay’s strengths include her ability to build rapport with families and understanding the needs of our participants. Kay motivates her staff by being a hands-on and inclusive Manager with the capability to strategically analyse the environment in which her services operate.

Jashika Pillay

General Manager – Individual, Social and Recreational Programs

Jashika has been part of the Flintwood family for over 15 years, working across a range of services and management roles. She now leads Flintwood’s Individual, Social and Recreational Programs across the Penrith, Seven Hills, Pennant Hills, and Brookvale locations, creating opportunities for Participants to connect, have fun, and enjoy new experiences in their community.

Jashika is dedicated to putting Participants at the heart of everything Flintwood does. She works closely with her team to ensure programs are inclusive, engaging, and tailored to each person’s interests and goals. Her goal is to support Participants to enjoy meaningful experiences, connect with their community, and feel fully supported in reaching their dreams.

Ashleigh Saunders

General Manager – Individual, Social and Recreational Programs

Ashleigh commenced with Flintwood in 2013 as an Individual , Social and Recreational support worker. Ashleigh has since progressed into management before then joining the Senior Management team in 2020 as a General Manager of operations. Before joining Flintwood and during her community services studies, Ashleigh worked within a crisis support team focusing on homelessness and mental health.

Ashleigh has had many years of understanding and gaining the knowledge of what it means to provide a quality and person centred service to the Participants she supports. Ashleigh’s strengths are having the ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with Participants, families, her team and other Services Providers and working collaboratively toward positive goal outcomes.

General Manager – Property and Assets

Scott joined Flintwood Disability Services in 2018 as the General Manager of Operations, overseeing the delivery of Day Programs and Supported Independent Living sites. With more than 15 years of experience in the disability sector, Scott brings extensive operational and strategic expertise to his current role as General Manager – Property and Assets. 

His key strengths include strategic development, leadership, and comprehensive operational knowledge. Scott is dedicated to upholding Flintwood’s core values by fostering environments that promote safety, accessibility, and long-term sustainability across all properties and services.

Carmen Haley

General Manager – Business Operations

Carmen Haley is a General Manager of Business Operations with over 25 years’ experience driving strategic growth and operational excellence across the not-for-profit, aged care, and disability services sectors. At Flintwood, she leads the development and alignment of operational processes and financial budgets to strategic goals, overseeing compliance, risk, and employee performance systems while supporting the organisation’s long-term strategy. 

Her expertise spans people and culture leadership, workforce planning, and continuous improvement. Carmen is passionate about fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture that empowers staff and delivers consistently high-quality services.

Alison Middlemiss

 General Manager for Operations – Supported Independent Living

Alison joined the Flintwood team in 2024 as the General Manager for Operations – Supported Independent Living. With more than 18 years of experience in the disability sector, Alison has worked across both Day Programs and Supported Independent Living, developing a deep understanding of what quality, person-centred support looks like. 

Her strengths include operational leadership, team development, and a commitment to empowering people with disability to live fulfilling, independent lives.

 General Manager Operations – Supported Independent Living

Nancy joined Flintwood Management team in 2021 as General Manager – Operations for Supported Independent Living. With over 20 years of experience in the disability sector, Nancy brings a deep passion for supporting people to live fulfilling and independent lives. 

Nancy has extensive background in disability support and leadership helps guide staff in delivering high-quality, person-centred care Nancy enjoys being part of the Flintwood community and values the opportunity to work closely with participants and their families. Building strong relationships and making a positive difference in people’s lives is at the heart of everything they do.

Russell Gould

Chairman

Russell is a retired telecommunications professional with over 40 years of experience, including senior roles in local and international projects, and later providing IT support. He has served for many years on the board of Flintwood Disability Services, bringing strong expertise in governance, risk management, and strategic planning. Being a parent of a person with a disability, Russell has valuable insight into participant needs and remains committed to ensuring high-quality services that deliver the best outcomes.

Sharon Foord

Vice Chairman

Sharon has spent 30 years in local government in management positions. She has a strong customer service background and enjoys high functioning teamwork.  She has studied management & disability and is a mother of a child with disability. She is interested in helping others, people management, and running projects always looking for great results. Sharon is passionate about working with the CEO and Board Members to ensure Flintwood Disabilities continues to provide the right services to people with disabilities, to create an environment of innovation and to keep Flintwood at the forefront in the disability sector.  Sharon also works on The Circle committee.

Sigrid Rottmann

Director

Sigrid has over 20 Years experience in managing a Licensed Post Office. Sigrid brings expertise in accounting, corporate governance, strategic planning, risk management, establishing procedures and policies as well as customer service specialising in problem solving.

My management style is people based and inclusive.

Russell Martin

Director

Russell is a local Resident in the Hills district and is married with 2 children, and is a pre-paid Funeral Consultant for Guardian, Simplicity and Ann Wilson Funerals. Russell is an active member in his local church, enjoys motorbike riding, movies and family. Russell is passionate about being part of a group that is interested in the lives of family members with a disability and to make a positive difference in their lives.

Helena Laves

Director

Helena started her career in accounting. Together with her husband Phillip, they went into a small business which ran for over 25 years until 2008. She then decided to start a new career in community services. Helena has a diploma in Community Services and Case Management and currently works at Hills Community Care.  Helena has a strong commitment to helping older people and younger people with a disability to help them stay involved and maintain links with the community.

Sharon Smith

Director

Sharon was elected onto the Flintwood board of directors in 2019 after being a member for several years. Sharon’s career has spanned across the health care and disability sector in both hospital and community nursing and disability roles. Sharon was a founding member of the NSW Children with a Disability Association and am also a member of the World Kindness Movement. Armed with a strong belief that every person deserves to have a voice and has a right to be treated both fairly and kindly. Sharon is both honoured and humbled to be part of Flintwood.

Mary Kaan

Director

Mary brings over 42 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with a strong background in aged care, disability services, and service provider management. Her extensive clinical and leadership experience adds valuable insight to the Board’s strategic direction and governance.
